An Eega that caught my fancy!
Do you like this story?
The buzz is getting louder. Everywhere I go I can hear it. From the aged uncle in my apartment, to my colleague and my daughter everyone is talking of Eega. I am aware why this film is getting so much of attention. A housefly, the main protagonist in the film, avenges his killer from the previous life. I have wondered, what’s so novel about this, animals avenging, haven’t we seen this before?
In a lengthy discussion with a well known film critic in Hyderabad, I was told that Eega is Rajamouli's most challenging work. I got interested, as I love Rajamouli's work. He is as famous as any Tollywood superstar in Andhra Pradesh.
Eega is probably the only film in Tollywood which has a leading character designed by computer graphics. I was prompted to see the trailer and when I saw it, I realized the buzz was definitely worth it. Woah! We can literally see the housefly’s expression. Never have I seen something like this in Indian cinema. On researching more, I found out that Rajamouli started the movie as an experiment movie and went on to do a full-length commercial film.
The movie has been publicized magnanimously. For the first time a Telugu film's Tamil version is releasing in about 30+ screens in Chennai city. In Karnataka the film will be released in 150 centers. Kerala also gets its share of Eega glory, here the film releasing in 100 centers. And the finale will be the Hindi 3D version, which will be released in Christmas season this December. What a hungama release.
Eega is also being screened in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and Ahmedabad with English Subtitles.
Knowing the film industry, I foresee that if Eega succeeds then it will usher in a new trend in South India. We can expect unusual out of the box kind of films. My interest has mounted after getting to know so much about Eega . It’s a one day wait for me. Tomorrow when I watch this film with my family I know that this housefly will surely live up to the buzz it created.
